In a case involving the misappropriation of funds of ₹40,85,175 connected to the Amloh block and other Gramme panchayats, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has made notable arrests. Due to their alleged participation in financial misconduct, a private individual named Hanspal and Kulwinder Singh Randhawa, the District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO) of Fatehgarh Sahib, were placed under arrest.
According to a Vigilance Bureau spokesman, a formal complaint (FIR) was submitted on Sunday, accusing five people—including Randhawa—of breaking many provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The charges cover criminal conspiracy, offences relating to corruption, and breach of trust.
The investigation’s conclusions showed that Hanspal and Randhawa had taken part in the unauthorised transfer of funds to private organisations and people. Serious questions concerning financial responsibility and monitoring within the local governing structure were brought up by the embezzlement plot.
Authorities stated that there were allegations of misconduct inside the panchayat system, which led to a comprehensive investigation and arrests. The case highlights Punjab’s persistent problems with corruption in public services and the Vigilance Bureau’s attempts to resolve these problems.
Randhawa and Hanspal are expected will be taken to court, and the legal process commences. The Vigilance Bureau reports that additional investigations are being made to learn more about the misappropriation and the involvement of other participants in the scheme.
This case highlights how crucial it is that public workers behave honourably and transparently, particularly when managing the funds of government organisations. The Vigilance Bureau has demonstrated by its actions that it is committed to combating corruption and ensuring that public funds are handled appropriately. Further evidence about the scope of the suspected financial malfeasance and its effects on Punjab’s municipal administration is anticipated to surface as the inquiry progresses.
