Oxford’s Covid Shield vaccine’s trial begins at PGI today

Oxford’s Covid Shield vaccine’s human trial begins at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) on Friday.

More than 400 volunteers have been registered for vaccine trials at PGI. According to the study protocol, on the first day, 18 volunteers who met the various standards will be given doses of the vaccine.

According to the PGI administration, as the volunteers will be found, they will be included in the selection process for human trials of vaccine.

The effect of the vaccine on volunteers will be assessed on the basis of various criteria. Based on the result, the impact of the vaccine in the prevention on Covid-19 will be detected.

The volunteer involved in the trial will be given a diary, wherein he will note down the important points. PGI will include these points in its trial report.

During this time it will be seen whether antibodies are developed in the volunteers after giving the vaccine.

The trial includes experts from various departments such as virology, pharmacology and internal medicine department.

The trial of the Oxford-based vaccine was halted after some discrepancies had surfaced. Now, the obstacles have been removed and work started on trials in PGI a few days ago.
