Ophelie Belin has been appointed as the new directrice of Alliance Francaise (AF), Sector 36, Chandigarh.
The former director, Sylvain Choin, went back to France to start a new chapter as a director of a school. He was the youngest director at AF who had spent almost four years in Chandigarh.
With his help, the first and only meeting of the Executive Committee of the Alliance was organised in Leh (the highest AF in the world) in 2019.
To elect the new executive committee members of AF, elections were held, wherein ML Sarin was elected president, Vipnesh Bhardwaj as vice-president and Anil Nehru as treasurer.
A month back, Punjab Engineering College (PEC) had also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with AF, Chandigarh, to take online French classes for Btech student. The AF in Chandigarh was established in 1983 and is recognised by the French Embassy in India. It has played a pioneering role in promoting French culture in the City Beautiful. It provides French courses, official French exams (recognised by the French Ministry of Education), library, cultural activities, Campus France desk for students who aspires for higher studies in France, translations, tour of the city and any advise related to French speaking countries.
