Odd-even system to end in Chd from Sept 4

The odd-even system of opening shops in congested markets in Chandigarh will end from September 4. This decision was taken on Wednesday in war room meeting presided over by Governor Punjab and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore.

Also, the vegetable market which is presently operating from Sector 17 bus stand will be shifted back to its original location in Sector 26 on September 15.

The odd even system was announced in light of rising Covid-19 cases in congested markets such as: Krishna Market Sector 41; market area near old PNB Bank/Bihari Garment at Bumil Chowk; Shastri Market, Sector 22; Patel Market, Sector 15; Sector 8 internal market; Azad Market Sector 20; Palace Market, Sector 20; booth market, Sector 21; Palika Bazar, Sector 19; Sadar Market, Sector 19; Janta Market, Sector 27; and Electronic Market, Sector 18. On Tuesday, 204 cases were reported in Chandigarh, 163 in Mohali and 179 in Panchkula.
