According to the previous guideline, a club was sealed for three days if found serving hookah. The UT administration had issued an order on December 14 banning hookah for three months. These orders were issued on behalf of DC Mandeep Singh Brar.

According to the order, till February 11, there will be a ban on serving hookah in any bars, clubs, discotheques, restaurants etc. in the city. If this happens, the club concerned, the bar owner may also have to go to jail.

A few days later, the order was amended, adding a provision to seal the club for three days. Despite this, many clubs and restaurants in the city were secretly serving hookahs. The administration has also sealed several clubs in the past. Experts have warned that hookah may play an important role in spreading coronavirus.  Different police stations of the city have taken action on more than 30 clubs so far including Boulevard, Mobe, Bargain Booze, Qizo, Industrial Area-based Playboy Club, Tamzara, Sector-9’s Boom Box, Pipe & Barrel and The Reef.
