In a hard-fought match, Dr Nidhi of Delhi defeated Binny Bansal of Chandigarh by 2-1 in the women’s single final of 35+ age category to win the All India Sudama Cup Masters Badminton Championship.
In the match played at Sports Complex Mohali, Binny was the first to take lead as she managed to win the first game with a score 21-12 to take a 1-0 lead in the match. But Dr Nidhi bounced back in the second game and upped the ante and went on to win the game and the scorecard read 21-17. Nidhi continued her roaring form in the third set and went on to win the game 21-18 and the championship as well.
In the women’s doubles in the 40 age group, Deepika and Rashmi won the title by defeating the pair of Neetu and Sandhya 21-12 and 21-17. In the women’s 65 age group singles final match, Manjeet Sharma defeated Dr. Madhulika 21-13 and 21-11 to get the first position. In the first semi-final of the men’s 40 age group doubles match, Ashish and Harshdeep Rawat defeated the pair of Mandeep and Sarbjit by the margin of 21-13 and 21-16 and in the second semi-final, the pair of Dr. Vikram Sachdeva and Pankaj Bansal defeated Jot Singh and Sarbjit. Defeated Onkarjit Singh 21-13, 20-22 and 21-19 to ensure a place in the final.
