Amid speculations that the BJP-JJP alliance has been broken down, Mr. Khattar along with its cabinet has submitted their resignation to Governor Bandaru Dattatreyar. The reason behind the breakdown is the seat sharing for Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections.
The fall of this ministry led to the unanimous decision of Nayab Singh Saini to be the new Chief Minister of Haryana, who is currently serving as the state of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). The oath ceremony is expected to take place at 5:00 PM. Oath of two Deputy Chief Ministers, along with Mr. Saini is also likely to take place at the governor’s residence.
Nayab Singh Saini, an RSS member, has served the BJP on various fronts and is currently representing the Kurukshetra Assembly. In 2021, he was chosen to lead the party in Ambala as district president.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha Sabha polls, Mr. Saini defeated the Congresse’s Nirmal Singh in the Kurukshetra constituency.
14 ministers including Khattar and three members of the Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala have resigned. After this, there is further possibility that he may contest as BJP’s candidate from the Karnal Lok Sabha in the upcoming general elections.
Union Minister Arjun Munda, national general secretary of BJP Tarun Chugh, as well as BJPs Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Barala, were also present at the legislative party meeting in Haryana Niwas
Currently, the BJP has 41 MLAs in the 90-member house while JJP has 10 MLAs. In collaboration, they also enjoy the support of six of seven independents. On the other hand, Congress has only 30 MLAs and the Indian National Lok Dal and Haryana Lokhit Party have one seat each. In 2019, BJP won all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Meanwhile, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) spokesperson Arvind Bhardwaj commented on the present political situation and said, “JJP is already making efforts to strengthen its organization and its party. We also want Dushyant Chautala to become the CM of Haryana. We have been working for the welfare of the people of Haryana state for the last 4.5 years…Everything will become clear in some time, now we will also have a meeting, and after that, the statement will be issued officially.”
However, the Education Minister in the Haryana Government, Kanwar Pal, assured the reporters that Khattar will remain the chief minister, outside the Haryana Niwas.
Five MLAs of the JJP were found absent in the meeting called by the party in New Delhi. It is also been reported that former Chief Minister, Khattar proposed the name of Saini, to be the next chief minister of Haryana.
