Chitkara University, Punjab has always been a leap ahead in organising activities for the protection of the environment. We got the opportunity to be the regional partners for National Environment Youth Parliament-2022 and we hosted young minds from various colleges/universities of J&K, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. NEYP-2022 is a platform created by Manav Rachna International University to discuss the measures that can be taken for the conservation of our environment.
The regional level began by welcoming the dignitaries who graced the event with their presence. Dignitaries from the National Coordinator University of NEYP-2022 were present in the regional level. Dr. NC Wadhwa, Director General, Manav Rachna International University graced the event with his benign presence. The event was also attended by Dr. Gurjeet Kaur Chawla, Dean, DSW, Manav Rachna International University. The participants were also blessed by the presence of Respected Brig. Dr. PS Siwach, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab.
After welcoming all the dignitaries, the judges for the day, Dr. Sumit Arora and Mr. Abhijit Chatterjee were welcomed and introduced to the House.
Post the welcome ceremony, the Keynote Speaker of the day, Brig. Dr. P.S. Siwach (Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Chitkara University, Punjab) addressed all the attendees. He spoke about how people are moving away from the ancient culture and are disregarding the environment.
Post the address, the group discussion on the topic “Eco conservation through technology with special reference to artificial intelligence” began.
Participants started discussing how technology if used properly can effectively help us in protecting the environment.
The speakers also answered questions regarding challenges to overcome and the group discussion ended with closing statements from the participants.
After the group discussion, Respected Dr. NC Wadhwa, Vice-Chancellor, Manav Rachna International University, Punjab addressed all the participants and congratulated them on the successful completion of the regional level. He also expressed his gratitude to Chitkara University for hosting this event on a regional level. This was followed by a vote of thanks from Dr. Neelam Verma, Dean, Office of Student Affairs, Chitkara University, Punjab and applauding all the participants for such brilliant discussion and this marked the end of the Regional level of NEYP-2022.
