Mohali MLA Kulwant resigns from PCA secretaryship: Sources

In a surprising move, Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh who was elected unanimously to the post of general secretary, Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) on July 12, has resigned from the post citing personal reasons.The development has been confirmed by multiple highly placed sources, and the house is now expected to elect the new secretary, PCA, within 15 days. In a show of power, the representatives of the Punjab state rulling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were elected unopposed at the top three posts of the PCA.Mohali MLA Kulwant, who is a familiar name in the political circles but a new entrant to the cricketing arena, is the richest of Punjab’s legislators with assets worth Rs 251 crore, according to his 2022 election affidavit, he had political stints with SAD-BJP combine before winning the 2022 assembly elections on an AAP ticket. Having near no experience in competitive cricket, he was the first ever secretary of the PCA with assets and business spread around the newly built Mullanpur stadium.He had filed his nomination for the post of secretary from the ‘representatives and institution category’, the PCA’s Model of elections.

After the formalities were completed, the new house was officially declared elected on July 12 by the returning officer. PCA President, Amarjeet Singh and Vice-President, Deepak Bali remained unavailable for their comments.
