Congress managed to secure seats in 37 wards, while the Azad Group in 10 of the total 50 in the Mohali MC poll results on Thursday. Three independent candidates also won 3 seats. Former Deputy Mayor Manjit Singh Sethi, who contested as an independent, won from ward no 2.
Surprisingly, BJP and SAD did not win any seat.
Congress won in ward 1, wards 3 to 7 and 27 to 30. Party candidate from ward no 11 Anuradha Ananda, from 12 Parmjit Happy, from 31 Kuljinder Kaur Bansal, Baljit Kaur from ward no 7 and Hardeep Singh Bholu from ward no 32 won.
Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu, brother of Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, also secured a seat in ward number 10, where re-polling was conducted yesterday.
However, former Mayor and Azad Group leader Kulwant Singh lost the elections. Meanwhile, Ravinder Bindra of Azad group has won from ward no 7. Ward no 26 was also won by an Azad Group candidate.
Happy with the victory in the Mohali MC Poll, Congress has started preparing for the roadshow.
