The process of filing nominations for the Mohali MC elections began on Saturday. On the first day of filing nominations, leader of Azad Group, former Mayor Kulwant Singh, was the first to reach the District Election Office. Leaders of other political parties are set to file nominations by Monday.
Elections are to be held for the Municipal Corporation in Mohali, while elections to the Municipal Council are to be held in Kharar, Kurali, Nayagaon, Zirakpur, Dera Bassi and Lalru. The first list of its candidate has been announced by almost all parties.
In Mohali, Azad Group and Aam Aadmi Party are contesting the mc elections together. In other city councils, AAP does not have any agreement with any party.
The Akali Dal and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) are separately contesting the election for the first time. At the same time, Congress has declared all the candidates for the Mohali MC elections. In
BJP on Friday released the first list of its candidates for the MC election in which 29 candidates were declared. The second list is likely to be announced by Saturday evening. Similarly, the Akali Dal will also announce the remaining candidates. While the last list of AAP and Azad Group is also expected to come by Saturday evening or Sunday morning. The Municipal Corporation was formed in Mohali in 2015.
