Punjab Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today visited the home of late eminent Punjabi folk singer Gurmeet Bawa for sharing his condolences with the members of bereaved family.
Expressing profound grief with the singer’s husband Kirpal Bawa and daughter Glory Bawa, S. Randhawa announced that a memorial in the memory of late Gurmeet Bawa would be constructed at Dera Baba Nanak as a humble tribute to the legendary folk singer who propagated folk music of Punjab in every nook and corner of the world.The Deputy Chief Minister said that she was blessed with such a melodious voice and known for her long chant (hek) and relentlessly served Punjabi folk music for more than half a century with her meaningful singing.
Members of Bawa family Ridan, Purva and Rishabh, eminent singer Satinder Satti, DGP Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota and Commissioner of Police Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill were also present.
