Buoyed by a blistering knock of 133 by the KXIP skipper KL Rahul, Punjab registered a massive victory as they defeated RCB by 97 runs at Dubai today.
Put into bat by Virat Kohli led RCB, Kings started fairly decently as KL Rahul batted steadily in the initial part of his innings. While Glen Maxwell failed again, KL just let loose towards end of their innings as Kings amassed 60 of their last three 3 overs.
KL’s score of 132 off just 69 deliveries is the maximum by any Indian in the IPL history and his knock virtually blew the Challengers away.
In response, RCB started really badly as they slumped to 4/3 in 2.4 overs with Padikall, Philippe and their mainstay and skipper Virat Kohli back in the hut. It all went downhill from there and they could only manage 109 as their innings came to an end in the 17th over. Leg spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin scalped three wickets each, while Cottrell got two when he started the slide early on. Shami and Maxwell got a wicket apiece.
KL Rahul was the obvious choice for the Man of the Match as he single handedly took the match away from the RCB with his swashbuckling innings.
