All shops and establishments except for essential services will remain closed in Chandigarh on Saturdays and Sundays until further orders.
This was revealed in a tweet sometime ago by the Adviser to the Administrator, Manoj Parida. He has also confirmed while replying to comments on his tweet that government offices and shops will remain closed while private offices can stay open.
Punjab and Haryana has already announced weekend lockdowns which means Panchkula and Mohali will also be closed on the weekends. Interestingly, a few weeks back, UT Adviser had written to Chief Secretaries of Haryana and Punjab requesting for Lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays in Panchkula and Mohali which had then been rejected by both the states.
But now with Covid cases spiralling out of control, the tricity wiill now be in lockdown on weekends to curb the spread of infection.
