Local golfer Aadil Bedi sets eyes on PGTI titles

After clinching a silver medal in last year’s National Games, local golfer Aadil Bedi is all set to make a comeback in the domestic circuit, starting with Mysuru Open 2024—the Rs 1 crore prize money tournament, from August 8.

The local golfer will play 15 events on the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) in the upcoming season, including Q school on an Asian tour in December 2024, at Lake View Resort Hua Hin in Thailand. He had a great start to the season early this year after finishing T-14th at Glade One Open Championship, with a level par score and made a cut in championships- Challenge Tour and Delhi Challenge.

The Pro Am event of the Mysuru Open is scheduled to start from August 5. Considering the recent training in London with putting and short game area advance work on a short game with Dronacharya Awardee Coach Jesse Grewal, the local youngster is determined to finish at the podium. “My power game is in good shape after I improved my fitness with Sagar Diwan at CGA Golf Range. It is a long waiting period after registering his first win at the West Bengal Open in 2020,” added the 23-year-old Bedi.The tour starts in Mysuru, followed by Coimbatore Open 2024 from August 14 and Chennai Open from August 20. Next month, he will be playing Vizag Open from September 18 and Telangana Golconda Masters from September 26. In October, he will be featuring in two major events at home grounds—Haryana Open in Panchkula from October 17 and Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational at Chandigarh Golf Club from October 24. The Kapil Dev Invitational Golf Tournament will be held in November with prize money of over 2 crore, and the year-ending Tata Steel Open will be played at Jamshedpur with a prize money of 3 crore. Bedi has good memories of his maiden win at the West Bengal Open 2020.

“So far, my game is shaping back very well. I worked very hard with my father Dr Harry Bedi, who assisted me with the help of hi-tech gadgets– supported by advanced software analysis. I have finished almost in the top-10 in the last four events. I am very confident that I will finish on the podium in most of the matches in the next five months,” added Bedi.He further added, “These national PGTI events are significant to finish on a high note, considering the next year’s Commonwealth Games selections.”
