Kuldip Singh Chahal, who is currently SSP of Mohali will be the new SSP of Chandigarh Chahal is an IPS officer of the 2009 batch from Punjab cadre.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India cleared his name for deputation to AGMUT cadre for 3 years for Chandigarh.
UT had sent Viveksheel Soni’s name to the Home Ministry last month from among a panel of three officers but Chahal being the senior most of the three officers was preferred by the Centre. Before joining the IPS, Chahal was an ASI in the Chandigarh Police.
