Kangana Ranaut’s Twitter Account Suspended

Twitter on Tuesday suspended actor Kangana Ranaut’s account after her post on alleged post-poll violence in West Bengal. Ranaut had targeted chief minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee in her post and called upon Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi to rein in her.

Kangana Ranaut wrote, “This is horrible… we need super gundai to kill gundai… she is like an unleashed monster, to tame her Modi ji please show your Virat roop from early 2000’s …. #PresidentRuleInBengal.”

She said that no violence was reported from Assam and Puducherry where BJP won, but ‘hundreds of murders and #Bengalisburning’ after TMC won in Bengal.

The actress also commented on Indira Gandhi in one of her tweets.

Responding to Twitter suspending her account, Kangana posted a video on Instagram and termed the move “death of democracy” with hashtags ‘Bengal Burning’ and ‘Bengal Violence’.

Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) won 213 seats in the just concluded West Bengal Assembly Elections. The BJP garnered 77 seats in the 294-seat state assembly.

Meanwhile, Kangana is also facing flak from netizens for saying that people using oxygen cylinders amid coronavirus should ‘return’ their share back to nature.

“Everybody is building more and more oxygen plants, getting tons and tons of oxygen cylinders, how are we compensating for all the oxygen that we are forcefully drawing from the environment? It seems we learnt nothing from our mistakes and catastrophes they cause #PlantTrees,” she wrote on Twitter recently.

Earlier too, Kangana Ranaut has been criticised for her “insensitive remarks” about the farmers’ protests that she shared on social media.
