Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has sent a legal notice to Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut over her recent tweets on farmer’s protest. The committee has asked her to apologise on her recent comments on farmer’s protest and activists.
“We have sent a legal notice to Kangana Ranuat for her derogatory tweet calling the aged mother of a farmer as a woman available for Rs 100. Her tweets portray farmers protest as antinational. We demand an unconditional apology from her for her insensitive remarks on farmer’s protest,” tweeted Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
‘Kangana Ranaut has disrespected my mother, she must apologize’
Senior BJP leader RP Singh said that Kangana Ranout has disrespected his mother and she should immediately tender a public apology. In a tweet RP Singh said, “@Kangana Team I respect you for your courage & acting but I will not accept anyone disrespecting or demeaning my mother. You must make a public apology for doing so #MohinderKaur.”
Earlier this week, the actress misidentified a woman farmer from Punjab as Bilkis Bano, the octogenarian who made headlines during the anti-CAA protests in Shaheen Bagh, Delhi. She had shared a tweet alleging that the ‘Shaheen Bagh dadi’ also joined the farmers’ agitation over the new agri-laws at various border points of the national capital.
She retweeted the post with pictures of two elderly women, including Bilkis Bano, and wrote that the “same Dadi” who featured in Time Magazine was “available in 100 rupees”. Also, Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh slammed Kangana Ranaut on Thursday for her tweet misidentifying the elderly Sikh woman as Bilkis Bano. He had shared a video of the elderly lady in question as proof, revealing that she was Mahinder Kaur. While Kangana Ranaut has deleted her post, she hit out at Diljit’s tweet with a fiery message calling Diljit filmmaker Karan Johar’s pet and herself a lioness. The Twitter fight escalated with the Punjabi actor getting strong support from many quarters.
