JEE Mains 2021: Education Ministry waives off 75 % in Class 12 eligibility criteria; syllabus to remain unchanged

Ministry of Education has decided to waive off the minimum 75% marks in Class 12 for the academic year 2021-22 to be eligible for NITs, IIITs, SPAs and other Central Funded Technical Institutes, whose admissions are based on Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains 2021).

The admissions to various Under Graduate (UG) programmes of the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur (West Bengal) and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs – excluding IITs) are made on the basis of ranks/merit secured by the candidates in Joint Entrance Examination (Main) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) had last year relaxed norms for admissions into NITs and CFTIs.

NITs will admit undergraduate students based on their performance in JEE Mains 2021. Earlier, along with the performance in JEE Mains, NITs used to demand either 75 per cent mark in the board examinations or a place in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.

The Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) is a national level entrance exam held for admission to 31 National Institute of Technology (NITs), 25 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), and 28 Government Funded Technical Institutes. JEE Main 2021 will be conducted four times from this year and the first JEE Main session is scheduled to be held in February. The application to JEE Main 2021 is underway and candidates can apply online through the JEE Main login window at jeemain.nta.nic.in

Also, the syllabus of JEE Mains 2021 and NEET 2021 will remain unchanged. However, unlike previous years, this year the candidates will be given options to answer the questions in JEE and NEET examinations, the Education Ministry has said. The exact pattern for NEET (UG) 2021 is yet to be announced. However, in view of the reduction of the syllabus by some boards across the country, the NEET (UG) 2021 question paper will also have options on the lines of JEE Mains 2021.

The students appearing in JEE Main 2021 will be given a choice to answer 75 questions (25 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) out of 90 questions (30 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics). Last year, a total of 75 questions were asked (25 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics), all of which had to be answered by the candidates. https://hellotricity.in/jee-topper-gurpreet-singh-wadhwa-talks-about-his-journey/
