JEE commences today with proper precautions

As many as 7,263 students appeared for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) that commenced in Chandigarh on Tuesday. Many students arrived for the exam Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

Preparations for the JEE mains were conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exams were computer based and the following centres were allotted:

  • Aaja Dashmesh Computers, Phase-2, Industrial Area, Chandigarh
  • Current Online Services, Phase-1, Industrial Area, Chandigarh
  • Eon Digital Zone, Phase-8, Industrial Area, Mohali
  • Eon Digital Zone, Lalru, Mohali

All the centres are sanitised and a distance of five feet was observed between the seats of the students. The students were also given a three-ply mask and the body temperature was checked at entry.

Further measures included were:

  • Additional sheets were placed on every desk before the paper began
  • Sitting area, monitor, keyboard, mouse, webcam, desk and chair were sanitised before each shift of paper
  • Student’s luggage was not allowed inside the exam centre
  • Students were asked to show their papers by standing at a distance from the officer posted at the gate.

What the students said

At first, there was a bit of anxiety for the exam but most of them were relieved because of the arrangement. Students from Chandigarh said that they were seated at a distance from each other and there were about 20 students in each class. Those who appeared for the architecture exam said that the exam was easy.

There had been many debates revolving around conducting the exam, in which the apex court had dismissed pleas for postponing it.
