Celebrating 58 years of James Bond, #JamesBondDay is here

Long before Harry Potter and Star Wars became a trend, British super-spy James Bond used to light up the silver screen.

Six different actors have portrayed as the 007, willing do anything for the Queen and his country. They are (in order) Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. Each of these has put their own unique twist on the character over 24 (soon to be 25) films.

Sean Connery started his career as James Bond with the 1962 film ‘Dr No’ and continued to portray the character in ‘Russia With Love’, ‘Goldfinger’, ‘Thunderball’, ‘You Only Live Twice’, ‘Diamonds are Forever’, and ‘Never Say Never Again.’

George Lazenby bagged the character after Connery left the role in 1967. Lazenby appeared in the 1969 movie ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’. However, he left the series even before the movie was released. His tenure as Bond was the shortest but he is the only Bond actor to receive a Golden Globe nomination so far.

Next, Roger Moore starred in seven movies between 1973-1985 and was one of the longest-running actors.

Timothy Dalton made his appearance as the famous-spy in 1986’s ‘The Living Daylights’. He left the role in 1994, after appearing in only two films: ‘The Living Daylights’ and ‘ Licence to Kill ‘.

The blue-eyed Irish actor Pierce Brosnan was the next in line. With his good looks and charm, he gave four James Bond successful films – ‘GoldenEye’, ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’, ‘The World is Not Enough’, and ‘Die Another Day’.

After Brosnan’s depart from the spy world in 2004, Daniel Craig stepped in. One of the longest-serving James Bond actor, he has starred in five films: ‘Casino Royale’, ‘Quantum of Solace’, ‘Skyfall’, ‘Spectre’, and upcoming and his last offering as Bond ‘No Time to Die’. The premiere of ‘No Time To Die’ had already been moved from April to November because of the pandemic. Now, the film has been further delayed until April 2, 2021, “in order to be seen by a worldwide theatrical audience”, said a statement on the film’s website.
