ISRO offers 5-day free online certificate course

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is inviting applications from interested candidates for a free online course called ‘Machine learning to Deep Learning: A journey for remote sensing data classification’. The course will be conducted through the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS). The programme coordinator is Dr Poonam S Tiwari, from the IIRS DLP team.

The duration of the course will be for five days and at the end the participants will be awarded a certificate. The course will be held from July 5 to 9, from 4pm to 5.30pm daily. Participants can attend the course live via any web browser through the eclass portal of IIRS, Dehradun.

Who can take part in the course?

The ISRO course is open to participants who have an understanding of basic concepts of remote sensing and geographic information system. It would, however, be most beneficial for professionals engaged in remote sensing data processing in different applications, where they are extracting a specific class of interest and further wants to learn fuzzy machine or deep learning concepts.

The video lectures will be made available on the YouTube channel.

To be eligible for the certificate, participants must have 70% attendance and registration will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. As there are limited seats, it is advisable to register at the earliest.

Course content and schedule:

5 July – Remote Sensing and its sensors of various resolutions. Radiometry and Geometric corrections and basic understanding of image

6 July – Basic classifier to Machine Learning – A Journey

7 July – Methods in Machine Learning: Supervised, Unsupervised and Reinforcement

8 July – Fuzzy based machine learning with application in temporal data processing

9 July – Network based learning algorithms – ANN to CNN/RNN
