International Conference on Emerging Technologies: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IOT) and Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) for Science & Technology Applications inaugurated

A two-day online International Conference on Emerging Technologies: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IOT) and Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) for Science & Technology Applications was inaugurated today. It is jointly organised by Department Electrical and Department of Electronics Engineering, NITTTR, Chandigarh.  Chief Guest Prof Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar, who inaugurated the conference, said that AI, IOT and Cyber Physical systems are playing vital roles in our day to day activities.

He emphasised the importance of use of these technologies in growth of agriculture and agriculture based industry in Punjab. Guest of honour Dr Biplab Sikdar, Vice-Dean & Area Director (Communications & Networks), from National University of Singapore delivered the keynote address and emphasised the importance of AI and machine learning in various current and prospective applications. He particularly discussed security in machine learning systems and ways to mitigate them.

Director NITTTR, Chandigarh, Prof SS Pattnaik said the main objective of this conference is to bring together the academicians, scientists, professionals, researcher scholars from national and international institutions, universities, laboratories and industries to exchange views, experiences, new innovative ideas and to provide an international forum to promote, enhance and stimulate international research interactions and collaboration in their respective fields.

Prof SS Gill, Prof Piush Verma and Dr Balwinder Raj, organisers of the international conference, mentioned that they have received 115 research papers within and outside the country and after a rigorous review process, 85 papers have been selected for oral presentation. They said presented papers will be published in Scopus Indexed Conference proceedings and some of the best papers will be considered for publication in prestigious book series of Taylor & Francis and Scopus indexed journals. Verma mentioned that five keynote speakers from international institutions of repute will deliver their expert talk and from each session one best paper will be awarded. Gill elaborated on the strengths of the Department of ECE and emphasised on joint projects and collaborative interdisciplinary research for nation building. Prof Lini Mathew mentioned about the R & D facilities in the Department of Electrical Engineering. Raj extended the vote of thanks to the gathering.
