Interactive session on “Entrepreneurship for all” for Students in Chandigarh

In sync with the initiative of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav 75 week grand celebration launched by Government of India, Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) under the aegis of Department of IT, Chandigarh Administration planned a series of interactive sessions on Entrepreneurship & Emerging Technologies.

Under this initiative, SPIC today organised its second interactive session on “Entrepreneurship for All” for the students of various colleges who enrolled themselves for this session. This session aims at sensitizing the students about entrepreneurship opportunities and support available for young entrepreneurs in SPIC Incubation Centre.

Through this event, a connect was made between mentors & Technology based startups and students to inspire the students towards entrepreneurship. First interactive session of this series was organized by SPIC on 25th November in SPIC Incubation Centre.

Todays interactive session was majorly focused on fruitful interaction with budding entrepreneurs to understand their journey, addressing queries of students about entrepreneurship and challenges and to see the activities of SPIC Incubation Centre and their infrastructure and facilities available for young entrepreneurs.

The event started with introduction where students were briefed about inception of SPIC Incubation Center and the journey thereafter. Students were made aware of the various opportunity available with SPIC Incubation Centre in terms of handholding which includes; Mentoring, Infrastructure support, company registration, HR Support & platform for marketing their products etc for young entrepreneur. The sessions on Entrepreneurship for All was taken by Mr Shubham who is young dynamic startupneuer Founder & CEO of VolumeTree and Mr Rajan Arora who is founder& Director of EFA Courses Startup. Both startups are incubated & nurtured by SPIC Incubation Centre. VolumeTree is in to the business of providing IT Services vis-à-vis Product Design and Development, IT Consultancy etc. They offer innovative solutions in IoT & Data Science as well.

EFA courses is an education & skill development based statup which provide on-demand learning platform for skills. Both speakers shared their startup journey in SPIC incubation Centre and how SPIC has been stepping stone in scaling up their start-up business. They guided the students about how to identify a problem and how to nurture an Idea and addressed the question raised by students about various challenges faced during setting up a new startup. They emphasised on importance of market study before starting a startup. Further after the session, students were shown the offices of all the startups operational in SPIC Incubation Centre to get the insight of the working environment.

Students got an opportunity to interact with the founders & CEOs of Startups and asked them about their journey and various projects & technologies they are working on. Startup Founders & CEOs shared the scenario of startup culture in the city and the benefits of associating with SPIC incubation centre. Students were then shown the newly created co-working area ECoS on third floor of SPIC incubation Centre. They were briefed about the facilities offered to subscribers of co-working space like; mentoring by Department of IT in setting up their venture , technical support, infrastructural support and marketing support in making their venture financially viable. Students were quite excited after the session especially after visiting the startup workplace & co-working area. Many of them have shown keenness to registering for co-working space and booking seat after their college examination.

All interested students were told to register for co-working space at www.spicindia/ecos/ portal which is live now for young entrepreneurs to book seats.
