The UT administration is building the main control room of the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) at Sector 43. A tender of ₹20.53 lakh has been passed for this. The control room will have a fire sensing system, networking and conferencing system.
Though UT administration has implemented Intelligent Transport System (ITS) in buses, but the work of its permanent control room is yet to be completed.
The administration has directed the department that the work of the control room should not be delayed any longer. At present, CTU is temporarily running this control room in one of its depots.
After the control room is ready, the activities of buses will be monitored there and real time information will be provided on people’s mobiles. Many facilities have been provided for buses under the ITS project, such as passengers can get information about the next stop and buses have been connected to bus stops, so that people will know how long the bus will take to reach a stop. Apart from this, emergency alarm facility has been provided.
