A Varanasi-bound IndiGo flight faced a bomb threat early Tuesday morning at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The incident caused significant alarm but ended without any harm and even thorough searches revealed no suspicious items.
Flight number 6E2211 should have departed at 5:00 in the morning. It had 176 passengers on board but security concerns made the plane postpone its departure because there was a warning that the flight might be bombed. According to officials, at 5:40 am, airport authorities received a phone call with warning of a bomb on the plane. The threat was confirmed when a message reading “BOMB BLAST @30 MINUTES” was discovered on a piece of paper in the aircraft’s lavatory by the pilot.
Considering the threat issue, plane was taken to ground for immediate disposal further actions. A rapid response team were sent to the spot and passengers left the airplane through emergency doors. According the reports, all passengers managed to escape without any injuries even though it was in a very delicate moment .
The IndiGo airline released an official statement regarding the incident, explaining that the aircraft had been moved to a remote bay following standard security protocols. “The flight is currently undergoing inspection. Post completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area,” the statement read.
The threat was a false alarm but serious investigation by security teams showed that no explosives or anything strange were there inside the plane. This happened after an incident in which some tissue bearing the inscription “bomb” was discovered in the lavatory of an Air India flight at Delhi airport.
