India’s highest air purifier inaugurated at Chandigarh  

On the occasion of the 2nd International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies, Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee took an initiative by installing Air Purification Tower at Transport Chowk, Sector 26, Chandigarh. The Air Purification Tower was inaugurated by Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, in the presence of Debendra Dalai, IFS, Secretary Environment, Anindita Mitra, IAS Commissioner, MCC, Manjeet Brar, IAS, DC, and other senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration. This is India’s highest air purifier which will cover around 500 meters radius around Transport Chowk, Sector 26. Polluted air enters into the inner casing of Mist Chamber, wherein no. of series of mist nozzles spray water in form of mist on the polluted air, so heavy polluted air particles are drain in drain tube, which collects in water tank. Purified air exhausted in environment. This Purifier has been installed by Pious Air Pvt. Limited without any cost to Chandigarh Administration and they will also operate and maintain the same for five years without any cost. A water-sprinkler machine was also flagged off by the Adviser to the Administrator. The sprinkler will use to wash the road side plants as well it will use to suppress the dust along the roads. A bicycle rally of around 100 schools from Chandigarh’s prominent schools was also flagged off by the Adviser to the Administrator to raise awareness among general public to curb air pollution and sensitise them to use bicycle as their local mode of conveyance.

Thereafter, a prize distribution ceremony was concluded in the Paryavaran Bhawan, Sector 19 B, Chandigarh to distribute prizes to the winners of poster making competition on the theme of this year’s International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies i.e. Healthy Air, Healthy Planet.
