India’s GDP grew at 8.7 pc in 2021-22 as against contraction of 6.6 pc in previous fiscal, as per government data released on Tuesday.The GDP growth was 4.1 pc in January-March 2021-22.
India’s GDP growth fell to 4.1% in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year, its slowest pace in a year. The economic growth, however, beat the forecast. For the full fiscal year 2022, the National Statistical Office (NSO) said it has cut economic growth estimate to 8.7%, lower than earlier expectations of 8.9%, NSO said in a statement Tuesday. January to March quarter GDP readings showed that economic growth was slightly higher than economists expectations of 4% growth, according to a Reuters poll of economists. In comparison, Asia’s third largest economy grew at 20.3%, 8.5% and 5.4% respectively in the first three quarters of the fiscal year 2022.
