As many as 318 oxygen concentrators arrived at Delhi airport on Monday from the United States to fight against the crisis of Covid-19 cases surge in India.
Union Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, in a tweet, said, “All efforts to strengthen India’s fight against the pandemic are on. 318 Philips Oxygen Concentrators on @airindiain flight from JFK Airport land at @DelhiAirport. Let there be no doubt. We will turn the tide.”
India also received the aid of 500 BiPAPs, 250 oxygen concentrators and other medical supplies from Singapore, which landed in Mumbai last night on an Air India flight.
Earlier on Sunday, the United States agreed to send essential raw materials to India required for manufacturing vaccines.
On the other hand, Google will be providing funding of ₹135 crore for medical supplies to fight against Covid-19, informed CEO Sundar Pichai on Monday.
CEO of Google and Alphabet, Pichai tweeted, “Devastated to see the worsening Covid crisis in India. Google & Googlers are providing Rs 135 Crore in funding to @GiveIndia, @UNICEF for medical supplies, orgs supporting high-risk communities, and grants to help spread critical information.”
“Google is already helping India fight Covid-19 with its core information products like Search and Maps, YouTube and Ads. COVID features on Search are available in India, in English and eight Indian languages that continue to improve localization and highlight authoritative information. This includes information on where to get testing and vaccines. Maps and Search surface thousands of vaccine sites. Google is also collaborating closely with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and with organizations like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to support vaccine awareness initiatives,” said Sanjay Gupta, country head and VP, Google India.
India reported 3.52 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the highest single-day spike registered since the onset of the pandemic.
