Singer Diljit Dosanjh on Wednesday released a new song in honour of singer Rihanna, who on Tuesday shed light on the ongoing farmers’ protest in India. Titled ‘RiRi’, a reference to the singer’s nickname, the song features music by Intense with lyrics by Raj Ranjodh.
“#RIRI #Rihanna,” Diljit Dosanjh wrote in a tweet, adding a closed-fist emoji. He shared the YouTube link to the song and tagged the producer and lyricist.
However, this token of appreciation did not go down well with actor Kangana Ranaut, who took to Twitter to mock Diljit Dosanjh.
“They also need to earn a rupee or two. Since when have you been planning this? It takes at least a month to release a song, and libru (short derogatory term for liberal) want us to believe it’s all organic. Ha ha,” Ranaut tweeted in Hindi sharing Dosanjh’s ‘Riri’ post.
Earlier, Kangana Ranaut took offence to Rihanna’s tweet, and wrote, “No one is talking about it because they are not farmers they are terrorists who are trying to divide India, so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like USA… Sit down you fool, we are not selling our nation like you dummies.”
In the song, Diljit sang about thanking God for creating a ‘pari (fairy)’ like her. He also sang about wanting to overwhelm her with presents and being obsessed with her, like the rest of the world. Diljit Dosanjh has been a vocal supporter of the farmers’ protest. He has repeatedly expressed his solidarity on social media and was earlier seen joining farmers at the protest site at Delhi’s Singhu border on December 6.
