I-T department raids SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s aides

Income Tax (IT) department on Saturday morning conducted searches on the premises of people associated with the Samajwadi Party (SP) in different cities of Uttar Pradesh.

Premises of Manoj Yadav in Agra, Neetu Yadav aka Jainendra Yadav in Lucknow, Rajeev Rai in Mau are among those raided by the I-T sleuths. The I-T officials said searches were also under way in Mainpuri.A 12-member team from the Income Tax department from Varanasi swooped down at the residence of Rajeev Rai in Sahadatpura area of Mau district located in eastern UP.Rajeev Rai is the secretary and spokesperson of the Samajwadi Party.Sources privy to the probe also stated that Rajeev owns a group that runs many educational institutions in Karnataka and they were all under the I-T scanner.

Premises of Neetu Yadav in Vishal Khand area of Lucknow were being searched.He was Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of Akhilesh Yadav when the latter was UP CM.The I-T department also conducted searches on the premises of RCL group owner Manoj Yadav in Mainpuri and Agra.In Mainpuri, I-T officials arrived in a fleet of 10 vehicles and cordoned off Manoj Yadav’s residence.

Taking a jibe at the ruling BJP over the raids, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said such misuse of central agencies only reflect that the BJP has realised they will be wiped off in the 2022 assembly polls in UP.
