Himachal Pradesh, one of India’s most visited hill states, received season’s first snowfall on Sunday morning. Set at a high altitude in the Himalayas, Keylong was covered in a thick white blanket. According to the weather department, the minimum temperature recorded in Keylong was minus 0.8 degree Celsius. Parts of Koksar area in Lahaul-Spiti district also received fresh snow, which partially disrupted vehicular movement in the area.

As per a MeT department official, “High-altitude areas of Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba, Kullu and Kinnaur districts experienced light snowfall in the past 24 hours.”

Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and parts of Uttarakhand witnessed heavy snowfall over the past few days.

The Himachal Pradesh administration said that the Rohtang Pass will be closed officially if it continues after November 15 and tourists will not be allowed to go to the Rohtang Valley.

Scattered to fairly widespread rain and snowfall is likely in Himachal Pradesh from November 22- 24, the IMD stated in its All India Weather Warning Bulletin.
