The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi expressed deep sympathies on the sudden and tragic death of the Iranian president, Ebrahim Raisi from a non-anticipated event and a very gloomy one he said. This happened after Raisi’s death from a helicopter accident that crashed into mountains in Iran which was unexpected. Alongside Raisi, the crash claimed the lives of Iran’s foreign minister, officials, and bodyguards, marking a devastating loss for the nation.
PM Modi, reflecting on Raisi’s contributions to strengthening the bilateral relationship between India and Iran, offered heartfelt sympathies to Raisi’s family and the Iranian people. The Iranian president’s commitment to enhancing ties between the two nations will be fondly remembered, Modi conveyed.
In Iran, the announcement of Raisi’s death was followed by the confirmation on state television that he had indeed died. Reports indicate that the crash claimed the lives of nine individuals, including Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. The incident occurred in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, where Raisi had been inaugurating a dam project alongside Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev in Jolfa. Raisi’s sudden demise leaves a significant void in Iran’s political landscape, as he was widely expected to succeed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The government in Iran began looking for their leader who was unaccounted for after flying in a helicopter; thus during their search mission they found where it had crushed down.
