With Covid cases declining, the Haryana government has given a go-ahead to resume offline classes in both government and private schools in the state.
According to an order issued by the Directorate School Education, offline classes will resume for students of Classes 9-12 from July 16. For Classes 6-8, the offline classes will resume from July 23.
The order says that a decision on resuming offline classes for students of Classes 1-5 will be taken later.
As per reports, the online classes will continue and students who want to continue taking them will be allowed to do so. For offline classes, schools will only allow students after getting written permission from the parents.
The Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal, took to his Twitter handle and tweeted the announcement. He tweeted:
“Haryana government has decided to open all the schools in the state for Classes 9 to 12 from July 16, and for Classes 6 to 8 from July 23.”
The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued last year regarding physical distancing and other protocols will remain in force as the schools reopen, the order states. It adds that a video has been made available to students, parents and teachers on how the offline classes would be conducted.
Schools in Haryana had opened after the first wave of the Covid pandemic but had to be shut again earlier this year when the second wave pushed up daily case counts and deaths.
As per the Union Health Ministry data, Haryana reported 55 new Covid cases and 10 deaths on Friday. The number of active cases in the state stands at 1,034.
