Haryana Roadways buses to have a panic button, GPS

Making significant changes in the roadways buses, Haryana Transport Department is preparing to install panic buttons in the buses for safety of women and other passengers. Along with this, the buses will be equipped with GPS so that the headquarters-level officer and depot general manager can trace the location of any bus.

Shatrujeet Kapur, the new principal secretary, Transport Department, said, that the buses will have a panic button and when a passenger presses it, the information will directly go to the police control room and a PCR van will take the further action. The department has set a target by March 31 to introduce the e-ticketing in roadways.

According to sources, IPS officer Kapur has given directions to the transport authorities that the priority of the government is to provide maximum facilities to more than 25 million people. Hence, considerable changes will be made in the licensing department and registration authority to improve the quality of roadways. 

Main priorities on the agenda are:

  • Driving licenses will be created on the basis of merit, not through brokers
  • Vehicle registration work to be made cashless
