Haryana Government Provides Rs 3 Crore Relief to Bus Stand Shopkeepers

In a crucial move towards assisting businesses affected by the COVID-19 shutdown, Haryana state has endorsed a rent exemption plan for contractors as well as shopowners functioning within the Haryana Roadways bus terminuses. The measure is expected to benefit almost 261 contractors and shopkeepers; this will mean an overall rent write-off of about Rs 3 crore.

For April 1 through June 30, 2020, the program gives a 100% rent waiver. A 50% rent waiver has been approved until July 2020. All contractors and shops at Haryana Roadways bus stops who have active contracts are eligible for these discounts.

Within 30 days of the notification’s release, contractors must submit applications to Haryana Roadways’ General Manager (GM) to be eligible for the reward. Payment evidence must be included with the applications. Within ten working days, the GM will process the applications and notify the applicant of any shortcomings. Candidates will have two weeks to address these problems.

Contractors and shop owners have raised their grievances of losing money seriously during lockup, so the Haryana government’s proposal is a response to that. Hence these shops can count themselves lucky that they will receive the assistance they need most because of this waiver in rent as part of their recovery efforts after the pandemic struck their area.
