Haryana government extends tenure of DGP Yadava

The Haryana government on Thursday extended the tenure of director general of police (DGP) Manoj Yadava till further orders.

An order issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Rajeev Arora, said that Yadava’s term had been extended by the Governor beyond February 20 this year, when his tenure was scheduled to end.

Yadava, a 1988 batch IB officer, was appointed as head of the state police force in February 2019 for two years though he has more than four years to retire.

Yadava, who was posted as an additional director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) for several years, was among the three Indian Police Service officers recommended by a committee of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for appointment as the state police chief.

The officer had returned to his parent cadre after a 15-year stint with the IB. Also, Haryana Government has appointed Gajender Phogat, Additional Director, Haryana Kala Parishad and AIPRO Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, as Officer on Special Duty in the Special Publicity Cell in addition to his present duties, with immediate effect. His headquarters will be in Chandigarh.
