After Shweta, Yashraj Mukhate and Bernie Sanders, Harender Chacha became the latest love of internet after a video of two groups fighting over customers for chaat in Baghpat of Uttar Pradesh went viral. In the viral video, several men fought pitched battles with sticks and rods as passersby watched in disbelief. The footage, which many said looked like ‘straight out of a 90s film’, began to trend in India.
According to the police, the fight over customers occurred between two chaat vendors and their families in Baraut area of Baghpat. Eight people were arrested after the scuffle. Out of them, thanks to his henna-streaked hair, Harender Chacha received the most attention on social media.
Hashtag #Baghpat, #Chaat, #Chacha dominated on Twitter and Instagram as many came up with hilarious reactions.
Harender Chacha said that the fight broke off as a result of the other chaat seller making false claims that Harinder’s food was stale. This drew customers away and irked Harinder resulting in the brawl between the two sides.
“They kept drawing my customers away…they kept telling them to come to our shop, his food is last night’s…The customers would return my chaat. They did this four or five times,” he said before his arrest.
