Now Govt employees entitled to 30 days leave if they test Covid-19 positive

Chandigarh Administration issued an order which stated that govt employees can take up to 30 days of quarantine leave if infected with Covid-19. For the past few days, there was confusion about the quarantine leave and several departments of the administration had also demanded clarification in this regard.

According to the clarification issued by the administration, if any employee of Chandigarh administration is found infected with corona virus or the employee’s house has come into the containment zone/buffer zone, due to which they cannot reach the office, then employees can get a maximum of 30 days leave.

The letter states that holidays will be provided as per the Punjab Civil Service Rule. If an govt employee is unable to visit the office even after 30 days, then he/she will have to apply for normal leave.

In addition, if a member of an employee’s family has been found infected with Covid, due to which he or she cannot go to the office, they will also be provided leave under Punjab Service Rule. The administration has clarified that apart from regular employees, contract worker will also be entitled to the same.
