Golden opportunity for PSEB students to increase Class 10, 12 marks

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), which is facing financial crisis in the Covid era, has provided a golden opportunity to the students who have passed their Class 10 and 12 examinations from 1970 to 2003 to increase their marks.

Controller (Examinations) JR Mehrotra said that students will be able to improve their merit by giving one or more papers. However, the syllabus for the examination will be the one given for 2019-20 session. The Board has prepared a special prospectus and uploaded it on its website.

Under the open school system of March 2020, students will now be given another chance to appear for the supplementary examination to be held after the annual examination in March 2021 in lieu of the reappear examination which was to be held in July/August which and could not be conducted due to Covid-19.

According to information given by the Controller (Examinations), a fixed examination fee of ₹15,000 has been fixed for the Golden Opportunity Examination. An examination fee of ₹1,050 has been fixed for the re-appearing candidates under the open school system and the re-appear exam of Class 10 would be held in the last week of January 2021 along with the golden opportunity examination.

According to sources, PSEB had contacted those who want to improve their numbers more. After this, students from 1970 to 2003 were given special opportunity in a high-level meeting.

JR Mehrotra informed that such students should contact the PSEB to fill their forms and submit the necessary documents related to their qualifications. The Golden Opportunity examination will be conducted at the PSEB headquarters in Mohali. No examination centre will be set up in Punjab in this regard. Also, the roll numbers will not be sent to the address of students. They will be uploaded on the board’s website a week before the exam. Students will have to contact the board if the roll number is not available. Disabled students will get writer facility. However, a certificate and other conditions of the medical officer of the district will be required for it. According to the information, 33% marks are required to pass the exam. An increase of at least one mark is necessary in this Golden Opportunity examination. If the numbers in this exam are lower than the old one, they will not be considered.
