A delegation from France arrived in Chandigarh on Monday for a five-day tour to study the 24*7 water supply project of smart city. Due to Covid, only some French Embassy officials have come, while other officials joined the online project review meeting.
On the first day, officials gave a presentation and said that the French government is giving a loan of ₹500 crore for the water supply project for Smart City.
In the presentation, officials said that women will get employment opportunities. French officials suggested that it would be good to employ women in tasks such as bill making, meter reading, etc. Women can be given around 33% reservation under this scheme, they said.
Also, the officials said that the project will not cause any harm to the environment.
On Tuesday, the delegation will visit the Sector 39 water works to assess its supply system and talk to the officials, engineers and local residents.
