Four ministers to go to Ukraine’s neighbouring nations to coordinate evacuation

Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju and Gen (Retd) VK Singh to travel to neighbouring countries of Ukraine to coordinate the evacuation mission and help students, reports ANI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi calls a high-level meeting on the Ukraine crisis. Some Union Ministers may go to neighboring countries of Ukraine to coordinate the evacuations. “The PM said the safe evacuation of students is a priority,” sources said on the second such meeting called by PM Modi in two days. On Sunday evening, the Prime Minister had met with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla and Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, among others.

Around 16,000 students are stuck in Ukraine, either at the borders, or hiding in bunkers, bomb shelters and hostel basements.Opposition parties, mainly the Congress, have been sharing videos of students’ SOS and have accused the government of not arranging the smooth and safe passage of Indians.
