Flying of drones banned in Mohali skyspace

Chandigarh

The administration has imposed complete ban on operating drones within the limits of the Mohali district with immediate effect. The ban has been imposed in anticipation of the VVIP movement in the district in coming days.

Mohali district magistrate Girish Dayalan has issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC, which remain in force from January 20 to January 27.

It may be mentioned that an Air Force station adjoins the border of the district, and given the presence of an international airport, VVIP movement, state level offices and other important institutions in the district, the use of drones could pose a grave security threat.

Besides, a complete ban on drones also became necessary as several VVIPs are expected to attend the Republic Day function here.

The ban also restricts photography agents to use drones during the marriage functions in the district as well as film and music video producers shooting in the district.
