Two FIIT JEE teaching institutes in Pune, India unexpectedly closed, leading to over 300 students and their parents finding themselves confused and uncertain about what to do next. Students from Class 8 onward were served by the Pimpri-Chinchwad and Swargate facilities, which provided coaching programs for admission tests like JEE (Joint Entrance Examination).
Reports suggest that the closure came without any prior warning. Parents allege that a week before the shutdown, the Pimpri-Chinchwad centre head informed them about the impending closure. Subsequently, staff at the centres reportedly said that their salaries and the rent for the premises had not been paid.
The impacted families are facing severe financial difficulty as a result of the sudden shutdown. Some parents were surprised to hear that the coaching organization was closing after paying tuition of over ₹2.5 lakhs yearly. Particularly worried about the state of affairs should be students in Classes 11 and 12, who are presently in a crucial year of getting ready for their entrance exams.
The situation is made worse by reports that other coaching facilities are charging these pupils more since they enrolled later than expected.
Several parents have filed complaints with the local police, who are looking into the situation. It is also anticipated that the state education administration would look into how the coaching centres are run, including their pricing policies and compliance with rules.
To yet, FIIT JEE has not returned calls or emails asking for more information on the shutdown. Students and their families have experienced severe worry and disturbance as a result of this abrupt shift, which has raised questions about the responsibility of private coaching facilities.
