Several farmers outfits have announced an intensified agitation after the Union government passed three agriculture sector Bills in the Lok Sabha. Over 250 farmer and farm-worker organisations, under the umbrella of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), have given a call for a ‘Bharat Bandh’ on September 25.
Farmers from Haryana will also participate in Bharat Bandh to protest against the new agricultural law. Indian Farmers Union Haryana president Gurnam Singh Chadhuni and press spokesperson Rakesh Bains confirmed this.
He said that markets, roads and transport facilities would be closed and farmer leader BM Singh of Uttar Pradesh will lead the Bharat Bandh. Until the anti-farmer law is repealed, their agitation will continue, he said.
Chadhuni said that the farmers reject the new agricultural law and will participate in Bharat Bandh. However, the supply of ambulances, medicines and other essentials will not be interrupted, he said. Sarvan Singh Pandher of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangarsh Samiti, which had been staging continuous protests (sit-in) in Punjab since September 7 in protest against the ordinances/bills, on Friday announcedb a “rail roko” agitation in Punjab from September 24.
