Mamu Ram Gonder, former INLD MLA from Nilokheri, reportedly died of Covid infection at a private hospital in Panchkula on Tuesday evening. He was 70.
Rajiv Gondar, son of the former MLA, told that his body will be taken to his native village Gondar, where he will be cremated at 10am on Wednesday.
He had tested positive for Covid and was undergoing treatment since September 5. On September 22, he tested negative for the infection but due to his serious condition he could not recover from the disease.
Mamu Ram Gondar had contested in October 2009 assembly elections and defeated Congress candidate Meena Mandal. In the last assembly election, he joined BJP under the leadership of CM Manohar Lal.
