Education dept increases seats for those seeking admission to Class 11

Education Department is going to give one more chance to students who have passed Class 10 passed from government schools of Chandigarh for admission to Class 11 by increasing the number of seats.

This time, the Education Department had drawn 12,815 seats for the four streams: arts, science, commerce and vocational. As many as 350 vacant seats were filled in the third counselling. Now, Education Department is preparing to increase the number of seats by 1,000 so that the remaining applicants can enrol in November.

In the third counselling, around 1,419 applications were received. Out of these applicants, only 350 students were admitted. Ravinder Kaur, District Education Officer, said, “Lists are being prepared according to the subjects of the applicants. Most of the remaining students have applied for Arts and their marks are low in Class 10. If the students cannot be accommodated in the existing schools, then we are planning to introduce sections for Class 11 in around five schools. Now, no new application will accepted for admission.”
