The Department of Revenue took the initiative to start e-Girdawari in the State of Punjab. The programme was conceptualized to bring efficiency, correctness and transparency in recording the crop inspections – an exercise, popularly called girdawari which is undertaken twice a year in routine.
For executing this momentous task, the Technical team of PLRS in Revenue Department developed the software and mobile app to capture the crop details. There are more than 2.21 Crore Khasras in Punjab and the process of data entry was started on 17 August, 2021.
Detailed instructions were given to all the Deputy Commissioners in meetings held by Ravneet Kaur, the Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) through Video Conference to accomplish this task before 30 September, 2021.
The work of data entry was regularly monitored through VC and DLR-cum-Member Secretary, PLRS made field visits also to the districts of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, SBS Nagar, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar alongwith SCS (Revenue).
The administration and Data Entry Operators of the PLRS worked day and night to complete the task of data entry. As a result of untiring efforts of all those involved in this exercise, this entire work of data entry of 2.21 Crore Khasras was completed on 27 September, 2021 well before the target date, with the help of more than 800 Data Entry Operators. The digitized record will be made available in public domain for citizens very soon and citizens can lodge online grievances about incorrect Girdawari, informed Ravneet Kaur, Special Chief Secretary (Revenue).
