After MET Report, Home Ministry issues Dust Storm warning for UP, Bihar and parts of north India

A fresh warning about thunderstorm and squall hitting was issues by the Home Ministry for Bihar, UP and other northern states.

India Meteorological Department said that after some inactivity, another set of thunderstorms is likely to hit India’s isolated places in western parts of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The MeT department also informed that Saharanpur, Muzzafarnagar, Bijnore, Baghpat and Meerut might be hit by storm.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath will also be cutting short his election tour after his storm claimed many lives in UP.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday approved an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those killed in a dust storm which had hit parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on Wednesday.

The assistance will be provided from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. The PM has also approved Rs 50,000 each for those seriously injured due to the storm.

More than 100 people were killed as the dust storm whipped through parts of Rajasthan, including Dholpur and Bharatpur, and Uttar Pradesh, bringing down houses, uprooting trees and electricity poles and flattening crops.
