Punjab Governor launches digitised land records in Chandigarh

VP Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab, inaugurated the Digitised Land Records of Revenue Department on Friday in presence of Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator.

With this, the Records of Rights (RoR) of 23 out of 25 villages of Chandigarh will be made available online. Also, more than 35,000 shareholders can access, check and even download their Ownership Record through any of the three search criterias – Owner Name, Khewat number and Khasra number, at any location through internet. The Land Records link is available on Chandigarh Administration website: http://chandigarh.gov.in/

Now, all the land records will be stored in digital format which would keep the revenue record updated and put check on any irregularities in it.

Further, the Revenue Record has also been integrated with Sub Registrar Office, UT Chandigarh. This integration would initiate the mutation process automatically after the registration of document at SRO.

Currently, the Records of Rights (RoR) of the revenue land in each Hadbast (village) is maintained in a separate Jamabandi and Mutation register. Till now, all RoR documents (25 Jamabandi and 25 Mutation registers) are maintained manually by the concerned Patwari of these villages.

Record of Rights/Jamabandi of each village (Hadbast) is required to be updated every fifth year as per Land Record Manual. However, the updation of revenue record has been neglected for decades in Chandigarh. Consignments of many Jamabandis were pending for the past around 30 years. The ‘jamabandi’ of Attawa village was last consigned in 1974-75.
